The Snuggler

Something gentle to put on.

The calming vest with a built-in ear hood. Gentle, even pressure, like a hug.

  1. A staffy standing in the Blye Snuggler, showing how the vest wraps the body

    1

    Wrap it on.

Two soft Velcro closures. Snug, not tight: two fingers under the straps.

  2. A dalmatian sitting in the Blye Snuggler with the hood folded over its ears

    2

Fold the hood over the ears.

It's built into the vest, so there's nothing extra to find on a loud night.

  3. A grey staffy lying down in the Blye Snuggler with the hood over its ears

    3

    Settle in a calm spot.

Their bed, a chew, you close by. Get them used to it at home first.

Storms used to be awful for our dog. He would shake, pace and try to hide. He still notices the thunder, but he comes down much faster now and does not spiral the same way.★★★★★Daniel K., Snuggler review
This did not work instantly for us, but after a few uses our dog got more comfortable with it and the calming effect became much more obvious. Adding one of my old T shirts nearby so he had my smell seemed to help too.★★★★★Ella H., Snuggler review

The Calm Plan app

And a plan for what to do.

The app shows you what to do. The book shows you why.

  • A short daily step, 10 to 15 minutes, made for your dog, so you always know what to do next. Each day says when to stop.
  • Built around your dog's main worry: storms and fireworks, visitors, the car, or time alone.
  • Storm tonight? Tap “A storm is coming tonight” for what to set up.
  • Calm Is Learned, the 68-page guide inside the app. Every day links to the chapter behind it, from your dog's early signs to a loud-night plan.

Built on counter-conditioning, the method owners rate most successful for firework fear (Riemer 2020, J Vet Behav, survey of 1,225 owners).

Nothing to download. It opens in your phone's browser, and you can save it to your home screen in three taps.

The real app, screen-recorded, with an example dog called Biscuit.

You know this night.

  • Shaking at every tiny rumble in the distance.
  • Under the bed, behind the toilet, or pressed against your legs.
  • Panting and pacing. Won't eat. Won't settle.
  • You, on the bathroom floor, music up, waiting it out.

You're not doing it wrong. Nobody gave you the steps. The Calm Kit does.

Tonight: tap “A storm is coming tonight” in the app for what to set up. Every day after: one short step to practise on the quiet days, before the next storm.

After you order

What happens after you order.

  1. Tonight

Your plan unlocks as soon as you pay. Set it up on your phone in a couple of minutes. Nothing to download.

Day 1 opens straight away. About 5 minutes, using a blanket or a t-shirt you've worn until the vest arrives.

Storm tonight? Tap “A storm is coming tonight” in the app for what to set up: an early walk, curtains closed, music on, a den with a chew, you close by. Comforting your dog is fine.

  2. When the Snuggler arrives 5 to 7 business days

Week 1 is the same for every dog: meet the vest with treats, build a calm spot, teach a soft settle word, and find where your dog's worry starts.

Three calm wears at home, with you there, before the first loud night.

  3. This month

Weeks 2 and 3 follow your dog's main worry. For storms: storm sounds so quiet they're boring, paired with treats. Then a little louder. Then the flashes, and bangs from another room.

Day 14, you write a loud-night plan anyone at home can follow. Day 19, you rehearse it.

Every day says when to stop. Two hard days in a row? The app suggests an easier day.

Day 21 isn't the end. The app keeps going with short top-up sessions, as long as you want.

We're in the middle of a severe thunderstorm and this is the calmest he has ever been. Normally we would be locked in the bathroom playing music, but tonight he's relaxed and happy on the bed…

Really easy to put on and adjust, which matters when you have a dog that is already worked up. Ours was comfortable in it much faster than I expected.
Sophie L., Snuggler review

I am giving this four stars because it took a little while for our dog to get used to it. Once he did, it definitely helped. We also used the scent bag and that was a great addition for him.

Sean and Jasmine, Blye's founders, with their dog Oscar

From the founders

We've got you.

We're Sean and Jasmine, a Gold Coast family, and this is Oscar. We'd cuddle him, and he'd still shake for a while. So we designed the kit we wished we'd had for loud nights: something gentle to put on, and a clear plan for what to do before the next storm.

They can't tell you what's wrong. The Calm Kit shows you the early signs many owners miss.

Questions

Good to know

My dog hates wearing things. Will they put up with it?

Some dogs need time, so the plan starts slowly. Day 1: let them sniff it, treat, drape it over their back for 10 seconds, then fasten it loosely for 2 minutes and take it off before they fidget. Day 2 pairs it with a long chew. Do at least three short, calm wears at home with you there before a loud night. If they freeze, scratch at it or try to back out of it, take it off. Still not for them after a few tries? Send it back under the Calm Promise.

Will it work for my dog?

The Kit gives you two things: something gentle to put on, and a plan of small, gradual, reward-based steps, the approach vets and behaviourists use for noise fear. Give it a few calm practice runs at home before the first storm. If it isn't right for your dog, the 30-day Calm Promise covers you.

What does the research say?

The plan: the method with the strongest owner ratings. Over 70% of owners who used counter-conditioning for firework fear rated it effective. That's the core of the storm and firework steps.

The vest: in small studies, some dogs wearing snug pressure vests showed fewer signs of stress, and 44% of 300 owners rated one effective for fireworks. For firework fear, owners rated vests effective more often than pheromones, herbal products or supplements (27 to 35%). It doesn't help every dog.

Studies: King et al. 2014, J Vet Behav; Buckley 2018, Veterinary Evidence; Mathis et al. 2024, Animals; Riemer 2020, J Vet Behav (survey of 1,225 owners); McPeake et al. 2017, Vet Record. Results vary between dogs.

Will it be too hot in storm season?

Only on hot days if the room is cooled. Never in hot sun or a hot car. Take it off after exercise or if your dog's chest feels hot under the vest. Panting can be fear or heat, so if you can't tell, take it off. Flat-faced breeds overheat faster. Leave water out.

What if I get the size wrong?

Use the breed picker or measure the chest at the widest part of the ribs, just behind the front legs. It takes 30 seconds. Snug, not tight: two fingers under the straps. Between sizes? Go up one and adjust the wrap. Wrong size? Post it back and we'll send the right size at no charge, with a free return label on Calm Kit orders in Australia.

What does the plan actually have me do?

One short session a day, most days 10 to 15 minutes. Week 1 is the same for every dog: meet the Snuggler, build a calm spot, teach a soft settle word, and find where your dog's worry starts. Weeks 2 and 3 follow their main worry. For storms, that means storm sounds so quiet they're boring, paired with treats, then a den and a loud-night plan you rehearse. Every day says why it matters and when to stop.

When do I get the app and e-book?

Your plan unlocks as soon as you pay: you'll get an email with your personal Calm Plan link. It opens in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to download, and your Calm Is Learned e-book is inside the app. Your Snuggler arrives in 5 to 7 business days, so you can start the e-book and the first days of the plan while you wait. Until the Snuggler arrives, the app uses a blanket or a t-shirt you've worn.

What is the 30-day Calm Promise?

Try the Snuggler on your dog. If it isn't right, send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Worn is fine, as long as it isn't damaged. Calm Kit orders in Australia get a free return label from us. For Snuggler-only orders, return postage is paid by you. Wrong size? Email us, post the original back (free return label on Calm Kit orders in Australia) and we'll send the right size at no charge. If a Calm Kit is refunded, access to the app and e-book ends. Email hello@blye.co with your order number to start.

Using the Snuggler safely
  • Start at home, with you there. Put it on for a few minutes on calm days, with treats. Do this at least three times and watch how your dog takes it before you go out and leave it on.
  • Going out? Start short. Leave it on for a few minutes first, then build up. Only leave your dog in it if they rest in it happily and don't chew, scratch or try to wriggle out of it.
  • Chewers stay home. If your dog has ever chewed the vest or other fabric, take it off before you leave.
  • Check the fit. Snug, not tight. You should be able to slide two fingers under the straps. It should not rub the armpits or press on the genitals. After each wear, check the skin under the straps for rubbing or redness.
  • Keep the face clear. Check the hood sits over the ears, not over the eyes. Never over the nose or mouth. The hood is built in and is meant to stay up over the ears during noise, including when you are out.
  • Sleep. Once your dog is used to it, they can sleep in it overnight. On hot nights, only in a cooled room.
  • Take it off if your dog freezes, scratches or chews at it, tries to back out of it, or seems more stressed.
  • See a vet urgently if your dog pants heavily and won't settle, has very red or pale gums, vomits, staggers or collapses. Cool them with tepid (not ice-cold) water and go to the nearest vet.
  • See your vet or a qualified behaviourist if fear is severe, getting worse or started suddenly, if your dog panics when left alone, hurts themselves or tries to escape, or if it comes with limping, stiffness or other changes. Pain can make dogs more sensitive to noise.
Is this instead of the vet?

No. If your dog's fear is severe, getting worse or started suddenly, talk to your vet. Pain, and changes in sight or hearing, can show up as worry. The plan is made to sit alongside their advice.

I have two dogs. How does that work?

Tick Got two dogs? when you order and the second Snuggler is 15% off. In the app, tap Settings, then Add another dog. Each dog gets their own plan, built around what worries them, all under the same code.

What if my dog is still anxious after three weeks?

Every dog moves at their own pace. You can repeat any week of the plan as many times as you need. The app keeps going with short top-up sessions. If your dog's fear is severe, talk to your vet. If it came on suddenly or is getting worse, see your vet or a qualified behaviourist.

How do I open the Calm Is Learned e-book?

Open the Calm Plan link in your order email, tap Plan, then Open the book. Each day in the app also links to the chapter behind it. It's a 68-page e-book (PDF) you can read on your phone, tablet or computer, and the trackers are easy to print.

Get your dog used to it with you home first. Take it off if they chew it or seem uncomfortable. If their fear is severe, talk to your vet.
